Project Overview

  • Client: CAA Club Group (CCG)
  • Project Location: Ontario, Canada
  • Start Date: 2021
  • End Date: 2021

As part of its commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #92, CAA Club Group (CCG) sought to develop a corporate Land Acknowledgement Policy that accurately reflects Indigenous histories, relationships to the land, and cultural protocols.

Land acknowledgments are a meaningful act of reconciliation, but they must be carefully crafted to ensure that they honor Indigenous voices rather than being performative statements. CCG understood this responsibility and engaged Three Sisters Consulting to review, validate, and enhance the policy, ensuring it was historically accurate, culturally sensitive, and linguistically precise.

Scope of Work & Key Deliverables
  • Policy Review & Validation: Assessed the policy for historical and cultural accuracy.
  • Community Collaboration: Engaged Indigenous communities and governments for input.
  • Terminology & Pronunciation Guidance: Provided linguistic and cultural guidance on appropriate land acknowledgment practices.
  • Final Policy Refinement: Ensured that the policy aligned with Indigenous perspectives and reconciliation efforts.
Project Outcome
The finalized Land Acknowledgement Policy was successfully integrated into CCG’s corporate framework, reinforcing its commitment to reconciliation and fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities. CCG employees were also provided with guidance materials and training to ensure that land acknowledgments were delivered with respect, accuracy, and authenticity.
