Project Overview
- Client: Justice Canada
- Project Location: Canada-wide
- Start Date: Ongoing (Initial phase completed)
- End Date: 2023
The Indigenous Justice Strategy (IJS) is a national initiative by Justice Canada, aimed at addressing systemic discrimination and overrepresentation of Indigenous peoples in the criminal justice system. Indigenous people in Canada continue to experience higher rates of incarceration, and addressing these disparities requires a collaborative, community-driven approach.
Through our sister agency, Kūwiingu-néewul Engagement Services (KES), Three Sisters Consulting was engaged to lead the facilitation, outreach, and reporting efforts necessary to ensure broad participation by Indigenous Nations, organizations, and community members.
Scope of Work & Key Deliverables
- Engagement Planning: Designed strategies to ensure broad Indigenous participation.
- Community & Stakeholder Outreach: Facilitated discussions with Indigenous Nations, organizations, and community members.
- Consultation & Reporting: Collected data and feedback to inform policy development.
Project Outcome
Three Sisters Consulting played a pivotal role in shaping the national Indigenous Justice Strategy, ensuring that Indigenous voices were at the forefront of policy development. Our work has contributed to an evolving justice framework that seeks to reduce Indigenous incarceration rates, enhance community-led justice solutions, and support long-term reconciliation efforts.Delivered Project
